When Light Moves in Your Hands — The Story of a New Kind of Light Toy, SHAKE SYNC

From an encounter with Osaka University's '1/f fluctuation' light technology, through co-development with Hakuhodo's HACKTS team and a sound-linking experiment with TOA, to showings at SXSW and Maker Faire — oxoxo (zero by zero) tells how SHAKE SYNC, the block that changes color when you shake it, came to be, and how interactive art can create social value, from a Snoezelen-like calming effect to care for children with developmental disabilities.

Sound Visualization

When sound plays, patterns appear in space. Water ripples, lights blink, waves spread across the floor. Something you were hearing with your ears suddenly begins to move before your eyes.

Water is always moving. Add sound, and that movement becomes clearly visible. Ripples spread, cast across ceilings and walls. It is just water — yet the whole space seems to breathe.
