At the end of summer, white incandescent bulbs lined the platform of Nakaminato Station in Ibaraki. You could hear a train approaching in the distance. The bulbs began to glow. As the train arrived with a roar, they blazed all at once. Then, as it pulled away, the light slowly dimmed again.

"Brilliant Noise [Minato]" expanded Brilliant Noise — originally installed beneath an elevated railway in Kobe — onto a working railway station platform. Every sound the station produced became a source of light: the rumble of trains, announcements over the PA, the voices of passengers waiting. Each arrival and departure was marked by a space that blazed and then faded, quietly.

Nakaminato had suffered tsunami damage in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, and Zero by Zero was glad to take part in the region's recovery through art.
