Arom (2nd gen)
Arom (2nd gen) was released in November 2020. Inheriting the core concept of the original — converting sound into light — this generation upgraded the control system from an analog circuit to custom-developed software. The result is a more nuanced, expressive response to sound. Wireless charging and up to 24 hours of battery life make it suitable for professional and commercial use as well.
The form evolved too. Two shapes are available: a Lantern type and a Ball type. Both use handblown glass crafted individually by artisans at Sghr Sugahara in Kujukuri, Chiba. No two pieces are identical.
Place it on the charging pad and it charges automatically. Lined up along a bar counter, it glows continuously for 24 hours. When conversation rises, the shimmer intensifies. When things grow quiet, it sways slowly, like a flame.
Collaboration with Sghr Sugahara
As with the first generation, the glass is mouth-blown by hand, one piece at a time, by craftspeople at Sghr Sugahara in Kujukuri, Chiba. The 2nd generation offers two forms — Lantern and Ball — allowing a choice that suits any interior.
Variations
Four variations combining shape and glass type:
- Lantern type (Clear / Opal)
- Ball type (Clear / Opal)
