Kvel - LED Candlelight

Kvel is a new illumination that produces natural lights by sounds. Putting Kvel into a glass or a candleholder, you can enjoy warm light such as a candle. Developed by Zero by Zero using the light expression techniques cultivated through contemporary art installations.

The product uses an analog audio circuit (rather than digital) to respond to ambient sounds, creating natural, warm flickering light. The half-mirror coated stick appears as simple silver, but when lit, creates a mysterious design with the light source floating within.

Awards: Grand Prize at the 29th Ota-ku Small and Medium Enterprise New Product/Technology Competition (2017).

Evolution: Upgraded as "Arom" (LED healing light), released December 2018 in collaboration with SGHR Sugahara glassworks. The handmade glass crafted by artisans creates fantastical light patterns on tabletops. Second generation with wireless charging (up to 24 hours per charge) released December 2020.
