Watari Museum of Contemporary Art — Kvel Exhibition
Through September 11, 2016, development samples of Kvel — Zero by Zero's LED candle light — were on display at the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art in Jingumae, Shibuya, Tokyo.
The Watari Museum is one of Japan's leading contemporary art museums, known for its international program. Within this refined setting, Kvel demonstrated the interplay of light, glass, and sound — a product that sits at the boundary between art and design.
Visitors were able to pick up and hold the Kvel pieces directly, experiencing firsthand the quality of the light as it responded to sound and flickered like a real flame. The museum context brought out a distinct presence in Kvel, underlining its character as something between a product and an artwork.
The exhibition coincided with Kvel's crowdfunding campaign, giving more people the chance to discover and support the product in person.
Period: Through September 11, 2016 (Sun) Venue: Watari Museum of Contemporary Art (3-7-6 Jingumae, Shibuya, Tokyo)
